""The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. It's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere."
-- Barack Obama --
This is my story. My name is Paola Caracciolo and it all started 13 years ago when I used to work as a marketing manager in a supermarket chain. That position required a certain dress code, and I've always been an animal-rights soul, so I started looking for both cruelty-free and refined clothes and accessories, especially shoes. What hit me back then was the almost total lack of such products on the fashion market. Therefore, I decided to make them myself. Once you go cruelty-free, you can't really separate what you do with food and what do you do with clothes anymore. Eating meat and wearing leather are two sides of the same coin. In 2006, there weren't really many options in Italy in terms of cruelty-free footwear (and none of those were high-end) so I figured I’d just make them myself. My first cruelty-free footwear brand was called "Veg Italian Style" in 2006. But, it wasn't still time for vegan fashion nor for e-commerce business so I quite in 2009. In 2014I tried it again: I founded a small start-up called Opificio V, I took care of everything: collection, communication, warehouse, strategy. A huge dream, a huge commitment, sleepless nights and endless work made up of great sacrifices and a lot of enthusiasm. I'm a Capricorn, and when I believe in something nothing can change my mind. With me, Gianluca Menghini, who has always dealt with the quality of the products and who personally worked with all the artisans that still now are working on our shoes. In 2016 Opificio V became Nemanti. From January 2019 Gianluca and I decided to leave the company and start again a new brand with the same philosophy of respect for people, animals and the environment we always had. And this is the story so far, now you can be part of our future.
